The goal in our breeding and training program is to produce Friesian Studbook-horses that comply to the highest standards, regarding:

  1. breed characteristics, as outlined by the Royal Society "The Friesian Horse- Studbook" where the emphasis is placed on the breeding of classical Friesian Horses: big, black, baroque, heavy built and with powerful movement.
  2. character trades: friendly, easy-going, pleasant around people and other animals, eager to learn and trustworthy, both in familiar and unfamiliar surroundings.
  3. versatility both under saddle and in harness (starting at the age of three all horses are being trained for the discipline of dressage under saddle and driving).

PhotographThe foundation of the breeding program at " House of the Friesians" starts with our quality broodmares descended from excellent bloodlines. Based on individual characteristics and qualities a specific breeding program is created for each mare with the intention of breeding foals that meet the high standards of "House of the Friesians".

The unique location of "House of the Friesians", our experienced team of professionals and our quality horses combined with a well designed training program proves, time and time again, that "House of the Friesians" delivers Friesian horses that possess the specific breed characteristics, excel in dressage as well as in driving and have a friendly, gentle nature.

"House of the Friesians" is situated in the Canadian Rocky Mountains close to the village of Radium Hot Springs in British Columbia. The mountainous surroundings and fresh air in which our Friesian horses are being raised and trained play a substantial role in the achievements of "House of the Friesians"

"House of the Friesians" offers owners of Friesian horses the opportunity to enter their horses in workshops designed by "House of the Friesians". In addition "House of the Friesians" offers a program containing a variety of workshops advantageous to owners of Friesian horses.

"House of the Friesians" also mediates the purchase and/or sale of Friesian horses in and outside of North America. To obtain an objective view of the qualities and characteristics of the horse in question, "House of the Friesians" can draft an appraisal for the benefit of the owner or future owner of the horse, as well as for insurance purposes.
